I am fascinated by biological mechanics, the interplay of bones & tendons, enabling dynamic motion. My work is an attempt to understand, through recreating, these intricate structures.
I vividly remember the tiny pink sparrow chick we raised as a family. Watching the waxy pin feathers slowly unfurl into a perfect flying machine was hugely influential. It was as though I'd been let into the secret of how birds work, I wanted to know more!
